This is why.  When you hit the delete button, your computer does not really delete the file.  It is not like other things in life.  When we break an egg, it is no longer an egg.  When we throw something in the garbage and the it is collected by the truck, for all practical purposes we know it is gone forever.

The computers work differently.  Your so-called "deleted" file simply disappears from your list of files but it is sitting right there on your hard drive marked as deleted.  What the computer does is that if it needs that space to save another file, it will simply rewrite the new information over the "deleted" file, but it takes years for us to reach that point especially since we have such big hard drives. 

So how can you get back that file?

Unfortunately, your computer does not have a way to get those files back but Ken McLeod, a software God has this really neat program that you can use.
