When I wrote about How to transfer your Wordpress blog to a new website, I was referring to something that is easily documented and done with out any problem by millions.

If you want to move to a b2evolution blog, it is tricky because there is so little information.  This is how you do it.

1. Copy all the files in the original folder to the new location.
2. Save the corresponding mysql database.  Open it in a text editor (my file was too large and I could not open it - so I simply opened it in Microsoft Word as a text file) and then using a find/replace command, replace the old URL with the new one.
3. Now create a mysql database in new location and import this file into it.  (The instructions are very similar to what I said about the Wordpress transfer )
   
4. Now change the site.com/conf/_basic_config.php and put the new URL for $baseurl.  You will also need to edit the new mysqul database name, user name, and password.
   

I am sure that a lot of time you need to move your wordpress blog to a new domain.  Here is how you do it:

1. Install Wordpress at the new location.  Use Fantastico if your hosting company provides it.
2. Now backup your original blog's database using instructions here.
3. Then follow these instructions to restore your database.

It does get tricky if you had plugins and themes in your old blog.  This will get you the basic stuff and then you can transfer plugins or themes or simply reinstall them.

You might also notice that if you had AdSense code or something similar added to the original code, that will be gone too.  Simply add it again.

After my HP Pavilion zv5120us stopped working I had no choice but to buy a new PC fast.  I do not believe that we should buy expensive computer - it is better to buy a cheap computer and replace it more often since they become outdated so quickly.  After doing some research online I found out that Walmart had a few great deals.  There I found the Acer Aspire for just $348 before taxes.  It has 1 GB RAM and that is what got me convinced.  The screen size is 15.4 inches but I have plugged in my Samsung SyncMaster 914V monitor.  Some reviews on the web talk about a bad keyboard or a mouse/pointer being too sensitive - I do not see that and I am a guy who makes a living on the web by typing all day.  The display is excellent and it is fairly light too.  It is too early to predict the performance of this machine or battery life or customer service (I have read horror stories of Acer customer service) but for such a low price, it is still worth the risk.  I think if it lasts a year I will be delighted.

Remember how I said that never buy a HP notebook computer, well, there was a reason for it.  After lots of problems and having to invest in a Samsung SynchMaster914V, mine finally died 3 days ago.  When I woke it up from the sleep mode, I first saw some flickering display and then nothing happened.  Rebooting did not help much either and it just kept stopping.  I wondered if it was overheating and I put it in the fridge, which surprisingly did make it restart and allowed me to backup my files but it shut down again.  There are a lot of hits on the Internet about how the fans may not be working or clogged (I cleaned mine) but that may not apply to me.  I tried to get into the safe mode and then tried to reset to an earlier stable version, but that didn't help either.  I also tried to use an emergency recovery disk - didn't do much.  Finally I tried to reinstall Windows XP and all this time it seems that I would get a new error message each time.  Since I am no computer scientist, I have now decided to have it as a toy.  I plan to open it up and really see what is inside a laptop.

After having a PageRank of 3 and 4 (yeah I was the one to write how to achiever higher pagerank), mine dropped to zero this morning, with no change in traffic.   It seems that I am not the only one.  Since this is a noncommercial blog, it does not affect me in any way at all as long my fans continue to visit me, but for those who sell links on their blogs using their PR this is a big setback.  That is what a company called Izea does and their CEO Ted Murphy is furious at Google, but I think he is wrong.

1. Not all bloggers that have lost PR do sponsored posts. I don't and my PR turned to zero from four.
2. I don't work for Google but I think they have a right to "punish" those that try to manipulate its search engine results.  It displays its PR, but it could have done exactly the same thing without displaying it.
3. If some websites that do sponsored posts have been spared and some that do not do sponsored posts have been punished, it simply means that his conclusion about his bloggers being targeted is not accurate.
4. I think his suggestions are lame that bloggers try to cheat Google by not using certain keywords.  Spammers have tried using these tricks for a while and they haven't been too successful.
