Mazda 626 problems
08.10.05 (10:53 am)   [edit]
So I have a Mazda 626 (1999). They are now called just Mazda 6. For exactly 6 years I had no major problem and since it was a good deal when I bought it, I was like wow, this car is good. It has a leather interior, Bose Audio, and I put about a 100,000 miles on it. But in June the troubles began. It started to heat up and the mechanic at Granite Gulf said that there was a leak in the coolant system and for little less than a thousand bucks it was fixed. A month later, the car started to heat up again and this time the mechanic said that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The guy did a few other things and the next thing you know it cost me little less than #3,000. So I pick my car up and drive for like 40 miles on a really hot day and the engine heats up again. I did not know what to do so I just turned off the AC. The mechanic looks at it again and he now tells me that the AC condenser fan was not kicking in. I was so frustrated now that I started to wonder if these Mazda cars are really that bad. Fortunately I shopped around on the Internet and found a fan for one third the price of a regular Mazda fan. Cost me some $70 and then an hour of labor at $75 today. Let us hope that this is it and I can get a few years out of this car.

My MX6 had weird electrical problems caused by a faulty distributor. Driving in central FL with the a/c cranked up all the way hasn't led to any overheating problems, oddly enough.

If you don't have a friend/relative in the business who can get you wholesale price, you're pretty much screwed: mechanics will often break it off in your ass (so to speak) charging retail for parts & supplies, especially on imports.

Today was a complete loss. I've just been hanging out doing nothing. I've more or less been doing nothing. I can't be bothered with anything recently. I guess it doesn't bother me.
