So like many IT professionals I work on a HP notebook computer. And despite having a wide screen, it is still fairly small if you spend a major part of your life looking at a monitor. And that is why it was my sincere wish to have a big monitor. Well, my boss finally let us all have Samsung SyncMaster 914V 19 inch LCD monitors. Installation was a piece of cake after we bought them on Black Friday at Staples. I even played a DVD (something that I do not plan to do on my monitor, though) just to check the quality, and I would say that while this is not a substitute for a TV, it is excellent for getting more work done. A colleague of mine who has a slightly older machine did find that the picture was somewhat pixelated and a call to Samsung was not much help. After taking all my personal information (I am sure that they will send me junk mail and get rich selling my information) the guy simply transferred me to nVidia (guessing that it was the graphics card that was the problem) - who did not even bother answering the phone. |
